Sam was born in Greenville, Mississippi in 1942. He began singing gospel at a very young age and joined his local Baptist church choir at the age of 8. By 10 he was singing on stage of Ellis Auditorium in Memphis, Tennessee, at the National Baptist Convention. At 14 he joined a Gospel group that sang all over the state.
Upon graduation from high school he joined the Army and began serving in the Army Special Services. He was a member of The 7th Infantry Division's Bayonet Chorale's USO touring group, working along side of Bob Hope. After serving three tours in Vietnam, Sergeant Littlejohn left the service in 1973 to pursue a recording contract promised with a major record label.
In 1974 Sam moved to Palo Alto, CA - there he opened a night club and experienced tremendous success.
In 1977 Sam received a call from The Sahara in Las Vegas, offering him a job with The Sands. He worked there until an investor from Sacramento, Ca. made him an offer at a successful night club.
Sam has preformed with some of the best performers, but for him some of the most memorable are Eddie Harris, Bluesman Johnny Heartsman, and of course the great vibraphonist Herb Gibson.
Sam has a powerful voice with evident roots in Gospel, Blues, R&B, Classical and Jazz. He has performed professionally and has an extraordinary talent, who can serenade, croon, and entertain you, singing to all ages from toddler to seniors. You name it; Sam is best described as The Singer/Songstylist.
